Dear mates!
How was today's devate on Globalization.
I was slightly disapapointed that I was in 'against' against my preferance of 'for' for globalization. Any way I tried to discuss to persuade the others. What surprised me was Polly's preparation of the devate. Her preparation was so thorough that she even prepare the authers' name. That was amazing! I was a little bit shame that I only mentioned about Japanese calligraphy for one of examples disapearing from the world because of globalization. The funniest thing is Susan's surprised face during Polly's detailed explanation.
Besides the debate, what attracted me was Prof. Len Barton's short lecture. His story of childhood was quite unique and worth listening. I think his strong opinion about higher education was deeply connected with his personal childhood experience. The line' primary and secondery education is not education' was the strongest line that I have ever heard in my whole life and, I believe, there is certain truth in the line. Because I also sometimes think that Education especially for primary and secondery level was politics. As far as I understand, what he means 'education' was based on learner's self motivation to learn something. He think only higher education is genuin education system because there is a freedom of thinking and autonomy of academia. He might declare strong opposition about globalizaiton, if he had joined today's debate.
Prof. Peter Hannon's lecture was very specific for me so I had a little bit nap during his lecture. Please don't say this to him and Suzy. Thanks to somebody's gentle push, I woke up and can listen to his lecture. Ha Ha Ha
Cheers
